Sanderson Associates have used vehicle swept path analysis extensively to inform the design process in developing many new fire stations and emergency service developments for West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester Fire Authorities and others.

Swept Path Analysis has also been utilised for many NHS Trusts and Ambulance Authorities to ensure their emergency vehicles can carry out the manoeuvres required at new hospitals or existing sites where the layouts are changing.

Vehicle tracking simulations of various emergency vehicles is completed to ensure efficient access and egress to fire stations, hospitals and NHS trust sites and that training facilities can also accommodate worst case scenario vehicle turning requirements.

For this vehicle tracking analysis, a Fire Tender has been used to determine the swept path. The dimensions of the vehicle used are illustrated below. The vehicle overall length is 7.35 metres and 2.43 metres wide with a 7.1 metres kerb to kerb turning radius.
