Refuse and Emergency Vehicle Access

Housing Developments, using Swept Path Analysis Software

Refuse and Emergency Vehicle Access

The largest vehicles requiring access to a housing development are typically the refuse vehicle and emergency service vehicle and swept path analysis calculations and demonstration drawings are often required by the local highway authority in order to ensure that the turning requirements of such vehicles can be readily accommodated.

Different Local Authorities have different sizes of refuse vehicles. Whatever the size, dimensions and specification, Sanderson Associates are able to model these to satisfy the Local Highway Authority that the site layout design is workable and safe. Similarly, although fire engines and ambulances are infrequent visitors, adequate access needs to be considered.

The swept path analysis below show a Phoenix 2-25W (with Volvo FM12 chassis), entering and exiting the site in forward gear.
